Technology and production

Each product is printed in 20 cm layers on an industrial 3D printer, reinforced with composite rebar and steam-cured. The result is precise geometry and strong concrete.

Technology and materials

What concrete do you print with?

Heavyweight concrete made with clean cubical crushed stone up to 10 mm, with no dusty screenings. The sand is quarry sand; clay and metal particles are removed by a powerful magnet above the conveyor. For thin-walled products we use only fresh M500 cement, which does not cause efflorescence, plus a plasticiser. Because the layers are compacted by extrusion rather than vibration, the mix contains more cement than ordinary concrete.

Why is every element 20 cm high?

Our production is standardised around this height. Almost any structure can be broken down into blocks in multiples of 20 cm with monolithic joints. This height gives precise layer geometry without the "elephant foot" effect and a manageable block weight: 40 kg on average, about 60 kg at most, so two people can lift it.

Will 3D printed concrete crack?

Every structure includes monolithic joints that carry the dead load, wind and snow, as well as expansion joints, composite reinforcement and coarse aggregate that acts as micro-reinforcement. As a result, the products withstand transport over 1,500+ km and all service loads. The design service life is over 100 years.

How are the products reinforced?

Each printed contour is reinforced twice along its height with certified composite rebar from a trusted manufacturer (Arvit). It does not lose its properties over time.

How do you ensure the layers bond into a solid whole?

Layer-to-layer adhesion is the key to 3D printing. We control the layer deposition time, concrete workability, air humidity and temperature, and the products are cured in a steam chamber.

Foundations and installation

Does a fence need a strip foundation?

No. Most fences are installed on point pier foundations with vertical rebar starters (usually 2 bars of 12 mm diameter). The entire load of a section is transferred to the monolithic joints, so a strip foundation is unnecessary, and a pier foundation cuts the amount of reinforcement and concrete work by about 5 times. Houses, of course, need a strip foundation or an insulated slab foundation.

I already have a strip foundation with posts. Will it work?

Send us the measurements and post spacing, and we will design a matching structure. If they don't match, the old posts or rebar are cut off and new anchors are set with chemical anchoring, or rebar is driven into the existing foundation.

My dog digs under the fence. What can I do?

Rather than building a strip foundation, it is more cost-effective to bury the bottom 1–2 rows of the fence. W6 concrete performs well in the ground.

How is the structure assembled?

Elements are laid on adhesive or cement-sand mortar; the joint can be almost invisible or emphasised for pointing. Every 40 cm in height, the monolithic joint is concreted layer by layer. Non-monolithic joints are allowed if rebar ties them across the full height of the joint; welding or tying the rebar is not required, a lap of 22 diameters is enough.

Who does the installation?

3D BETON's own installation crews or partners across Ukraine. If your own contractor installs it, we provide full consultation and instructions.

How accurate do the measurements need to be?

For fences, don't be afraid to measure yourself: male-female joints and the offset of "Wave" and "Chain" sections let you adjust the size during installation, and a panel can be trimmed with a diamond blade. The longer the run, the greater the tolerance. For butt-jointed structures (modular benches, house walls), measurements must be precise.

Can you come and take measurements?

Yes, this is a paid service. But first send us the dimensions so we can prepare a preliminary design and quotation.

Painting and care

Can the concrete be coloured through the mix?

No. Our products are made with grey cement: integral pigment does not guarantee a consistent shade across large batches.

What paint should I use and how?

Use a facade paint such as CERESIT CT54, applied with an airless sprayer in two coats without primer (primer interferes with the paint's reaction with lime and causes peeling). Average coverage is 14 kg (a 10 L bucket) per 25 m² on one side. The 3D printed surface has high adhesion: the paint does not peel or fade. We do not add water repellent to the concrete to preserve adhesion to the paint and monolithic joints.

What happens if I don't paint it?

With constant wetting (lawn watering, poor drainage, nearby water), the top of an unpainted fence may turn green after about 8 years. That is why we recommend painting.

How much does a wall weigh?

On average 125 kg per 1 m² of thin-walled structure.

Ordering, payment, delivery, warranty

How do I order?

Send a hand-drawn sketch with dimensions via messenger. Our designer will prepare a design, a quotation and, free of charge, a 3D visualisation of your structure.

Lead time and payment?

We print to order, 1 month on average. 50% prepayment, the remaining 50% before shipment. For non-standard products made to custom drawings, the prepayment is 70%.

How do you deliver?

Across Ukraine by a 10–20 t articulated truck or as part of a shared load; we choose transport to fit the finished order. Unloading: a crane truck with extended slings (slinging directly above the pallet is not allowed, only over the top) or a forklift from the side.

How are the products packed?

Packaging is designed for each product: wooden spacers, cardboard or foam, rope laid in a zigzag to prevent abrasion, a Euro pallet or double pallet, stretch film and strapping. Instructions are included with the package.

What is the warranty?

20 years, the maximum under Ukrainian law. It covers the structure if we install it, or the products if we only supply them. Products damaged during loading and unloading are replaced.

Do you have reviews?
